Brazil Find Form as Cunha Double Seals World Cup Win Over Haiti

Matheus Cunha scored twice as Brazil moved top of World Cup Group C with a 3-0 victory over Haiti. Vinícius Júnior added the third, all goals coming in a dominant first half that marked a clear improvement from their opening draw against Morocco.

The result eliminates Haiti, who lost 1-0 to Scotland in their opening match.

Brazil took full advantage of Haiti’s vulnerable high defensive line, with Cunha, Raphinha, and Vinícius repeatedly finding space. Raphinha had a goal disallowed for offside in the 12th minute and missed another chance soon after. A minute later, Cunha opened the scoring after Vinícius’s shot was parried.

Cunha struck again in the 36th minute, finishing emphatically from Vinícius’s pass. Raphinha then went off with a suspected hamstring injury, replaced by Bournemouth’s Rayan. In first-half stoppage time, Vinícius scored from Lucas Paquetá’s lofted pass.

Haiti showed more fight in the second half but failed to score. Alisson made key saves, including a point-blank stop from Ricardo Adé’s header, denying Haiti their first World Cup goal since 1974. Brazil had chances to add more but were kept at bay, while Haiti became the first team eliminated from the tournament.
